COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SYSTEM FOR WINDOWS (CAPS-W) - This is a DFAS automated system designed for compliance with the Prompt Payment Act in order to view all payments, interest paid, discounts lost & pending payments. The report from CAPS-W gives a breakdown of how much money is obligated & any funds remaining on a specific contract. This is a valuable tool to use to verify all funds have been processed & paid on a contract, as well as see if all actions have been processed correctly through Wide Area Workflow (WAWF).

PROMPT PAYMENT ACT - A law enacted in order to ensure that companies transacting business with the Government are paid in a timely manner. The Act requires that the Government make payment within five working days from the date of submission of a properly prepared invoice by a contractor. For amounts not paid within the required period, the Government is obligated to pay interest at a rate established by the Secretary of the Treasury.
